There are many hosting plans out there different companies offering different plans and some hosting companies even offer custom plans, there are also companies which offer Linux Reseller Hosting and Windows Reseller Hosting where you can get the resell rights to sell hosting to space to others and make money from it. But that’s out of context here.
From my own experience I would say its not really necessary just because you have bought an expensive hosting plan and it means you will have no problems with it and there will be no downtimes and page loading issues and also on the other hand just because you have chosen a cheap web hosting you are bound to face some hard times with it. Its not really true.
No matter what hosting plan you choose just keep in mind to check for the reviews for that hosting company from previous and existing customers. Don’t look for testimonials which are present in the homepage of the hosting company itself. Try to browse through different webmaster forums and try to ask for suggestions and their opinions for best hosting company.
Also look for the company background a bit and check how long the company really existing and check how long their official website is up in domain tools, check for their Alexa rankings and page rank as well.
There are many hosting companies out there which are fly by night and cheat you with gimmick plans such as if you pay $150 now, you can use their hosting for lifetime with unlimited bandwidth and unlimited space, move with caution or even avoid those companies which promises to offer such plans because there is a high chance that they will cheat you at the end of the day. No one can afford to provide you hosting for lifetime.
No matter whatever hosting plan and hosting company you are choosing, just make sure that your site is live always with very negligible downtime. Any hosting with good loading times and less downtime is good for SEO in my opinion.
