I remember myself being in a peculiar situation when I first started to see a major dip in traffic on one of my blogs all of a sudden. It was really shocking for me and I had no idea why my blog was losing hits and starting to become less popular in search engine. To be frank I was heart broke when this first hit me. Then all of a sudden one day you might decide to shut your forums down and start with a blog. Of course the site is yours but when you do that people who find your expired listings are going to be disappointed. This potentially not only ruins the reputation of your site but also comes at an expense of user experience for search engines.

Changing Site’s Structure:
Its good to change the way your site looks once a while, but its not always a good idea to change your templates often, each templates not only changes the way user interaction with your site but it also affects the way search engine spiders interacts with your site. When search engines notice that your site’s layout is changing often its highly likely you might lose your rankings too. But not to worry try to find the layout which you are comfortable with sooner than later and stick to it for a long time to come.

Older Domains Doesn’t Mean Stability:
You might have bought a domain which is pretty old, but you should know that older domains not always means stable search rankings. If you are looking for a older domain try to look in to its history and check what kind of contents it had in past and why they have been taken down. Older domains with a collection of unstable sites is a sign of instability for search engines. Unstable domains are not likely to hold good positions for a long time. So if you have a older domain with a history of unsuccessful sites behind it then your rankings need not be stable in search engines.

Be Stable To Gain Stability:
You cannot expect search engines be to stable about your rankings when your site is not stable in the first place, can you? Try to keep following things in mind while building a website.

1. Build contents on a consistently

2. Build quality and relevant links back to your site

3. Do not unnecessarily remove your old contents, unless its really necessary

4. Stick to a stable site layout.

5. Let your site to get old and do not give up.

Losing traffic is a normal phenomenon for all the websites and particularly pretty common for the new ones. Do not give up your heart when you see your site is losing hits, instead keep your site updated always and continue your efforts to make it grow further. There are always waves at the shore, try to go further and further and you will succeed.
