Often people get confused about what domain extension to choose for their domain names. I would say it’s a good idea to give first preference to .com domain names as people find it easy to remember also people often assume a site’s name always end with .com over other extensions. 2 .org Is The Second Best Option You Can Go For:
It’s often assumed that .org domain names are only used for company websites. Though it holds true to some extent we have came to a point where you can see .org sites are widely spread among websites of almost all possible niches online. Also stats show that more number of domain names are registered under .org after .com. if you happen to see a good domain name with .org extension as available just don’t hesitate to go for it. Also .org extension is widely becoming popular for techno based sites. So if you have an idea to start a techno site then .org might well be a good choice for you.
3. .net Gets The Third Place:
Getting a .net domain name can be third best option for you to go for as it’s holds the third place for the most registered domain name extension across the globe. Similar to .org extension, I don’t practically see any restrictions for the kind of site you can have with your .net extension.
4. Domain Name With Good Keyword Should Always Be Your First Preference:
Its often the case that many webmasters tend to leave of a good domain name when .com extension is not available, but this should not be the case in my opinion especially when you consider the way search engines look at your domain names, search engines not give special preference to .com or .org or whatever extension it your site might hold what really matters is the content of your site. So if you happen to come across a domain name with .org or .net extension available I would advice you to go for it, rather than settling with a domain name with a less popular keyword in .com extension.
