How Personalized Search Results Really Going To Affect Your Business And SEO
Its been nearly 2.5 weeks now since the launch of Google personalized search for everyone, meaning what you see in Google search result when you look for a specific topic will not match the person who does the search for a similar term at your neighbor hood or from other computer in your own home or some other browser in your same computer. Sounds strange is it not? it is…. but Google decided to roll up this to its users.
So how this will really affect your business and your SEO efforts? to what degree of course? for that you need to know how this personalized search really work and from where it collects all your datas.
What is this personalized search is all about?
To understand this just take an example, if you are looking for information in Google regarding wordpress plugins and you see a result which is in the position three to be really appealing and click through that result and get in to that page. Now just for example you started to love the site and the resources in it and you spend a lot of time in the site.
so the next time you do a similar query in Google, there is a high probability that this page will show up in your search query like before but in say in the first position rather than position three. But not really the rankings altered just because you have clicked through the result once, but say if you click through the same result repeatedly there is a chance that you will gradually start to notice that its rankings are altered. but just know that those rankings are altered only for you, not for everyone across the Globe.
Google Does Collect Datas From Other Sources:
I recently found something interesting going on with my SERPS. I usually tend to do a search to see where my blog ranks on the keyword I focus on. I usually find it on page one in position six.

but what I found today is something interesting. I made a search today for my term and found it on position two. But you might say what so strange about it?

What’s strange about it is I never used to click on my results, but some how Google collected my browsing history from some other sources and moving up the results of my page..
So From Where Does Google Collects My Information?:
What I did is I just logged out of my Google account and made a search again and found my page appear again in position six!
What is shows is simple, although I don’t click on my results Google does collect collects my information when I am logged in to my account. So from where does it collects my information. Simple the account I used is what I use for Google webmaster tools, Google analytics, gmail and also couple of other services offered from Google.
What conclusion it gives me is this, even if you don’t click on your SERPS Google does alters the rankings of the pages of your website just by knowing that I am the owner of this website and I am somehow associated with this website. May be it collects my datas from Google analytics code I placed on my blog and automatically associates me to my account, although I do not click on my results, it finds me I am spending more time on my blog and automatically moves up the results for my page, for my account.
What is proves is this, although you might not be actually clicking on any results for the websites you access on a frequent basis, but still Google will find those websites for you for the particular query you make on Google search and bring up the pages of those sites for you, because Google thinks you might be interested in reading a page from this particular website over others.
So what it potentially does is gets you more repeated visitors to your site, plus it also to some extent screens them from accessing other results. But you should know that just because your SERPS move up for a particular query for a particular person doesn’t mean he will keep coming back to your site again and again. He might eventually get bored and go for other pages and other results as well.
So what my point is if your site is getting thousands of loyal visitors a day, you might start to see your loyal visitors numbers go up in the coming days even more increasing your business further. But on the other hand if you are not going to keep your visitors with something interesting then they start to move to other websites to look for more informative posts, thus moving you down the ladder in their SERPS.
Also if you have a lame site on top of the Google search you will start to see those pages will gradually start to move down.
So for the first time only sites with Quality content that pleases the users will start to rank up, if you are going to have sites that annoys people with terrible popups, advertisements, surveys then you should think about removing those and focus more on content. I think writing for search engines will slowly start to move towards a direction where you need to write for users and your site visitors.
Although other algorithms that plays a role in your page rankings will still the same, so what would be the best SEO strategy in the coming days will be to focus more on your content and also build links simultaneously to move up your organic results like before so that more users can find you like before and when they find your site more informative its natural that they will stick around your site reading more informational posts from you and there by you can have a more stable market.
I think your business which depends on search engine rankings will be more stable than ever before provided you have a great quality site which people like to visit over and over again. But it would be a little hard for new sites to find some visibility but once it gets the attention it deserves then its just like turtles finding water current under the sea, your business will start to run more smoothly without much effort from your part.
So the moral of the story is focus more on quality and money will follow, as simple as that.
