How Does Pagerank Work – Things You Need To Know About Pagerank
I see a lot of people saying pagerank holds no more importance and its long dead. I want to cut those all those bull-crap and get to the reality. Whether you believe that its important or not, pagerank is Google’s way of measuring the importance of a particular page on a scale of 1 to 10. So if you check the pagerank of Google.com or facebook.com you should be able to see that it holds the value of 10 and which is the highest possible value.
To get a rough Idea on how the pagerank works lets look at the image below.

Just look at the box in the top left corner which holds the value of 100, if you consider the box to be a webpage with the pagerank value of 100 then the two out going link from the page will share 50% of the page rank value each. Also notice the number of links pointing to the webpage. Those are the links which carries the pagerank to the page. If you imagine four outbound links from the top left webpage then the four recipients will share 25 value each.
But you should know that Google algorithms have become little sensitive in recent days with regards to pagerank. You cannot directly assume that if you get a link from a page which holds PR5 it doesn’t mean your page will receive PR5 too. Google checks for the links relevancy and also quality of those links. Also it doesn’t mean if you get excessive links to your page, you pagerank will increase. You should focus more on the quality of the links rather than just building excessive links. Also you should know that sites with quality contents attracts quality links automatically.
Blog with good PR value always goes for a better price when you want to sell it and also many webmasters pay a very good amount to buy links from a blog with good PR. So Pagerank is not so useless as many think.
