High Quality Backlinks – What Is It Really?
Whenever I see an ad from company or from some individual offering some seo services or any link building services, they always tend to use this word “High quality backlinks”. So I want to give my readers what do they really mean when they say so or at least what they must mean when they promise you that they will build high quality backlinks for your site.
Search engines determine quality of a backlink based on the following factors.
1. Relevancy
2. Quality
3. Pagerank (Google)
4. Location Of Your Link
5. Age Of Your Link
Relevancy:
Relevancy mainly refers to how relevant is the site where your links are present to yours. You do not want to consider a link present in a health forum for your seo blog as a quality backlink. Reason is both niche are not relevant to each other. But a link from a webmaster forum to your seo blog is considered a high quality backlink as they are more relevant to each other.
Quality:
Secondly you need to consider the quality of the site where your links are coming from. If you are having a backlink from a blog which uses a lot of duplicate content and which makes use of auto posters or feed posting etc.. you don’t want to consider those links as quality links to your site. On the other hand when your links are coming from blogs which has a good number of original links, which has a lot of subscribers and whose pages rank high in search engines. These links are considered to be quality links and they will do you more good in terms of seo.
Pagerank:
You also want to give some importance to pagerank of the pages where your links are present. Pages which have high pagerank usually denotes that it has good amount of quality links pointing to it, so links coming from high pagerank sites and pages will be of good quality.
Location Of Your Link:
This is something most webmaster don’t give much importance, but it really does matter where your link is present. Links in which are surrounded by text, links which are present in the main part of the page as a part of an article, links which are present in the navigation have more value over links on the blog roll or on the footer of a webpage.
Age Of Your Link:
Recent algorithms in search engines gives more importance to the link age and it kind of makes sense because only genuine and quality links last longer, when you start to build links for your site through blog comments or forum posts etc.. there are chances that if you were using spam methods. The links you built will not last longer they are more likely to get deleted or removed at some point. where as quality links has less chances of getting removed. So age of your link is something search engines take seriously.
Hope this gives you some idea on the topic and happy hunting!!
