Does Link Color In Your Webpage Influence Your Rankings

This question was asked by a guy from Indonesia, he wants to know that does link color influences his popularity in search engines? He is worried that one of his friend who holds a site with exact niche as his was ranking higher and getting more search traffic than his, though the content present in both of their sites are similar. So he thinks the link color might be the reason that influences their rankings in search engines.

I know the question might sound little stupid, but its not as stupid like you might assume it to be. Truth is SEO has nothing to do with link color, but link color does have a lot of influence with regards to click through, its researched and known that blue color links always tend to get more clicks over other colored links, so if you are using adsense in your blog or site, its best practice to have a blue colored link, as it will prove to convert better than other colors, after blue red is a best option too, if you site template is something that could support red colored links then red is the way to go.

So what influence does it have over SEO? NOT MUCH! when I say not much I don’t deny the fact that it has a small influence, for example if you have blog where all your links are in green or violet color its less likely that people coming from search engines will tend to click through those links to read other articles or posts in your site, which may prove to increase your bounce rate, also most people like links to be in blue because they are more pleasant and inviting over other colors, if your web-page and link colors are not pleasing for your visitors they may not want to spend more time on your site, instead they might skip over to other sites with more attractive and appealing links.

SEO wise your bounce rates does matter a lot, as link color has some influence over your bounce rate, then its a good practice to have a appealing link colors for your visitors, in most cases blue is the best.

For the person who asked this question, I must say link color may not the major factor that may be influencing your popularity in search engines, there are tons of other factors which plays a greater role in search rankings, so you better focus on it and try to build more credible links that are valued by search engines.

look in to your css stylesheet, that’s where the link color and font color in your blog will be specified.
