Finding right keywords to optimize your site for can be quite tricky, but its not an impossible task. Here are some tips that will help you a lot to figure out keywords you want to optimize your site for.
1. Think From The Side Of An User:
This is an important part, you need imagine yourself as an user of Google and think of terms which you will use to search for information that is related to your site’s niche.
2. Write Down The Terms You Can Come Up With:
I often use to forget the terms which comes to my mind on a flash, so the best practice is to note down the keywords you can think of on a piece of paper or a notepad where you can easily refer.
3. Look For Those Terms In Your Keyword Tool:
You can proceed towards using any of your favorite keyword tool, my favorite keyword tool is the one offered by Google for free. When you do look out for information for those keywords, make sure you are also looking for other synonymous terms related to the keywords you are looking for that gives you a better idea on keywords which you might have failed to think about.
4. Collect The Terms That Matches Your Interest:
Then make sure you are collecting all the terms that matches you interest on a notepad. Its good to store it on a notepad so that you can use your notepad for future reference.
5. Check For The Competition:
Then start to filter out your keywords by checking for the competition on each term. Place the highly competitive and more searched term as your primary keyword and followed by moderately searched keyword and less competitive keywords in order. It will be helpful for you to plan your work in a more organized manner.
