For this very reason search engines loves domain names and sites that are on for a longer period of time and search engines do develop some sort of trust with these domain names and show up the pages of these sites with older domain on front pages over new ones.

As I mentioned before search engines do trust the pages of domain names which are on for a much longer period of time and tend to rank the pages of these domain names higher over others, also your SEO efforts are reduced to a large extent with an old domain name which has a good keyword in it of course, otherwise what’s the point in ranking high for a keyword which people hardly search for?

When your site is fairly new, it takes much longer time to get indexed where as when your domain name and site is old, your pages are most likely to get indexed faster and show up in search results.

With the advantages mentioned above demand for old domain names are always growing among potential people, so when you are in hold of a site which is on for a while with a good domain name, it only increases the value of your site when you want to sell it.
