5 Possible Reasons For Why You Might Be Losing Your Search Rankings

Most of the time it comes as a shock for people when they all of a sudden lose their rankings and traffic that considerably affect their overall earnings, and of course you need to be worried about it when you depend on search engines for your earnings. Here are some possible reasons why you might be losing your rankings.
1. Change In Algorithm:
Search engines tend to change their algorithm now and then and with it the way they rank a webpage is prone to change too, search engines like Google often make some minor adjustments in their algorithm which most people won’t be aware of, reason is because these minor adjustments in their algorithm won’t make much of a difference in people’s rankings but its for certain that some people are prone to be affected by them, especially when your site is relatively new, so its a good idea to wait a little like one or two weeks to check whether things revert back to normal.
2. Competitors Out Performing You:
You must know that if you rank #1 on google for your search term that doesn’t mean that place belongs to you forever, there is a high chance that your competitors are doing a good job than you in terms of SEO and out perform you to knock you off from that position.
3. Quality Of Your Site:
Apart from the external links that supports your rankings there is also several other factors that determines the quality of your site, like your site codes, internal links, your structure etc.. plays a role in your rankings, so if you have a site with heavy codes that makes things difficult for search engine bots then there is chance you might lose your rankings.
4. Link Farming:
This has been a constant headache for search engines, there are several SEO companies out there who promise your immediate results like shooting your rankings and hits up in a matter for few days, on of the ways they do that is through linking you to other low quality websites that will get your site’s rankings up in a matter for few days, but just know that search engines will hunt down those websites sooner or later but in most cases sooner. Some SEO companies or even to say that some webmasters own hundreds or even thousands of websites and when they build a website they make it a practice to add a link back to their new sites on other hundreds of sites they already own, but unfortunately most search engines do track down these practice because its highly likely that these webmasters will have all their sites under one server and same ip address, when search engines find out that majority of the external links for a particular site comes from the same ip then they will penalize the site and may also possibly ban the domain for trying to cheat their algorithm.
5. Duplicate Content:
Most people think its not a problem, but I know of a lot of people who eventually got their site penalized for hosting duplicate content that is primarily taken from some other site. Frankly it depends on your luck on how long you are surviving with your duplicate content, some sites survive for a longer period of time and some sites don’t even survive for a week, So if your site is holding duplicate contents then there is chance that your site might got penalized and lost its rankings.
Apart from it there might be other reasons too, like keyword stuffing, when you use repeat the keywords you are focusing on your posts way too much that search engines might think you are spamming.
Sometimes you might also loose rankings due to the poor quality of your host, some hosts do try to spread malwares through the sites hosted on them. Search engines have developed metrics to identify such pages and they will possibly remove them from displaying to its users.
when some of the links pointing to your site expires, it costs your rankings sometimes, so do check all your inbound links are active occasionally and do build links on a regular basis.
