external links
Its really important that you understand what makes a link pointing to your website more effective, the number of links that points to you doesn’t automatically guarantee high pageranks in search engines, instead sometime more number of links can harm you potentially than helping you. So when you involve in link building campaign for your websites you need to keep certain factors in mind to build a more effective links that really have an impact over your rankings over links that really doesn’t help you much. You will be impressed that when you focus up on building more effective links, your link building campaign will not only be effective but also it can save you lots of money that is spent on links that really doesn’t add any value to your rankings.

1. Where is your links located?:
Many people doesn’t care about where your links come from, all they focus up on is they need a link back somehow from their site and many tend to think that more the links you got more chance that you will start to rank high in search engines, this kind of thinking is wrong! search engines functions on some really complex algorithms that really checks the authority of the website where your links are located. For example if you have a site on “Mobile Phones” and you got your links on sites that are based on Perfumes, movies, SEO etc.. then those links will not have influence over your rankings or perhaps they might have some influence for a very little time, but its more or less sure that you will start to lose your rankings sooner or later with those kind of links.

Build links on sites that are more relevant to your niche, that way Google gives some value to those links and rise your pages up in search results.

2. How Trusted Is The Website Linking To You?:

when you build your links you must also give some preference over how long the site has been around, how periodically the contents of those sites are updated and how well their pages are ranking in search engines, when you build a link on a site that is relatively new, then even it may be relevant to your site’s niche but still may not have much influence over your rankings.

3. Pagerank:
Many feel pagerank doesn’t influence your rankings, but they are wrong, pagerank still holds some value to rankings and of course its not the only factor that determines your rankings there are hundred other factors that influence the way you rankings in search engines but you must keep in mind that pagerank is also one of them.

4. Prefer A Link That Is Surrounded By Texts:
Its better to avoid links over blogrolls and other site wide links like, links on the footer or header area of a site, prefer a link that is surrounded by a text, that tells something about your site as they hold more value over mere link with your keyword.
