I know of a few seo professionals who voluntarily block search engines from indexing their hosted images in their site, because they believe most people who does image search in Google are scrappers and I do agree to their side of argument. But what if the case your blog’s traffic mainly depends on image search in Google?

I am sure if you are running a photo blog or blog based on wall papers or celebrity blog, most of the hits to your site would come from Google image search and I personally hold a blog on entertainment and celebrities where I get 80% of my hits from Google image search. So under these conditions I cannot afford to block search engines from indexing my images in my robots.txt, best way is to funnel through the people who does image search directly in to visiting your blog, although it might to some extent frustrate users but most people who visit your site through Google image search are mostly likely to be unique visitors because no one cares to look for the same image file over and over again.

What this plugin does is simple, when a user clicks on an image hosted on your blog, it breaks the frame that is displayed at the top of the page in google image search and forces the user to visit your blog page directly to look at the image, this may also prove to increase your click through adsense and other ads you might have on your blog. Some people may argue that it will increase your bounce rate, but I found out from my own experience as I own a photo blog myself, my blog still has only 52% bounce rate which is not really bad.

I would say this is one of the best wordpress and seo pugins you could get, how many times do you want to change your url structure or forced to change the permalinks and got in to the problem of facing too many 404 errors in your blog?

I don’t know about you but I faced this problem on one of my blogs last year and I had to install the redirection plugin and set up redirects for more than 200 urls which took me nearly 2 days to complete the work, I was not aware of the existence of this plugin way back then, if I had it would have reduced my work burden to such an extent that it would have reduced my work of two days to few minutes or even seconds.

This plugin automatically looks for the url slugs in your old permalinks and matches them with the appropriate new permalinks and redirects the visitors and bots automatically to the new url. Isn’t that really good? I would say yes of course it is. I would make sure I am including this plugin in my next update of wordpress seo for sure. For now I highly recommend installing this plugin in your blog as it would really reduce your 404 errors.

I was just going through some of the plugins on wordpress.org website, I came across this wonderful plugin and I am really happy that I am writing a review on this plugin for the simple reason, its a kind of plugin which I was looking for on a long time. I would say this plugin is in fact better than headspace2 plugin which I have used on my wordpress seo tutorial? in fact I am thinking of rewriting that tutorial using this plugin because it makes your job a lot more easier and this plugin works really well with the latest wordpress version too.

It gives you an option to enter your meta titles and descriptions for your posts which will be displayed in search results, when you make a post, it also gives you an option to enter custom read more text, which can be effectively replaced with your keyword which you want to focus on particular post.

You can insert link box at the end of your posts, which people can use to share it with their friends and also enables them to share it in their own blogs.

It gives you an option to edit the robots.txt file too, potentially reduces your work to install a new plugin that does the same job. Its something I would highly appreciate about this plugin.

I would say this plugin will be very helpful in distributing PR juice uniformly across your blog, also it connects all the posts of your blog better in your homepage together, blog with a lot of posts will benefit a lot with this plugin, also it makes the job easier for search engine bots and it will enable them to find all of your posts very easily even if you hold a complex navigation system that makes the job tougher for the search engine bots to find your posts, if your posts are arranged in the form of pages in the homepage it can check out all the posts in your blog one by one and still find your post. In a way it increases your internal links which will benefit you a lot.

Some people might feel what does posting teaser has got to do with SEO? well in fact it does when you can use it rightly, Normal teaser posts do have a link with continue reading text or read more whatever it may be, but this kind of link is said to have be bad from SEO point of view as you are missing out a chance to optimize a link that leads to your post.

Once you install this plugin and enter the settings area which looks like the one shown below.

you can specify where you want the links to appear in your blog, you can avoid links to self because it don’t make much sense, other than that you can also specify whether you want the links to appear in your posts or pages. Some people do not want their links to appear in pages, you can un-check the pages option to ignore the links to appear in pages.

You can set automatic link targets to categories, posts, tags and pages. you may wish to ignore some keywords like about, author etc.. and also you can restrict some pages from showing links to other pages or posts.

To want specific keywords to be linked to specific post then all you need to do is specify the keyword or you can also specify multiple keywords seperated by comma and followed by the url for link.

You can restrict the number of times a link should appear in a post in the settings, I would set some restrictions on that, but its up to you whether you want some restrictions or not.

If you are linking to an external page and if you wish not to give any link juice to the external link then you can add no-follow attribute to those links too and also make them open in a new window that way when someone clicks on an external link they will not leave your website.

Over all its an excellent plugin for SEO and reduces you workload to a great extent when used correctly. I really recommend using this plugin and I wish the author of this plugin do update this plugin for future versions of wordpress.
