When Is The Right Time To Place Ads On Your Blog

I had a guy named Kevin from United Kingdom mailing me a really good question. He asks when is the right time to place to ads on your blog? some people say its not good to place ads as soon as you start up with your blog as it might chase your visitors away and there are few people who say not to monetize your blog until you get certain amount of visitors to your blog. So what is the truth?

Truth is there is no problem with placing ads in your blog right from day one, and Google or other search engines won’t penalize you for placing ads in your blogs, there are some filters that Google uses to potentially screening websites with too many ads being used, which practically uses duplicate contents, but all you need to make sure is whether visitors can easily able to access the contents on your blog? I have had a friend who started to monetize his blog after it got little popular and started to get more than 3000 uniques per day and he started to earn more than $1500 a month out of adsense alone, but what happened is he became little greedy and started to use other networks as well apart from Adsense and his blog was filled with ads all over the place and it became quite hard for his blog visitors to access the actual content. Not more than two weeks has passed by, he started to see his visitors numbers and earnings coming down.

This has always been a problem with lot of people, as soon as they get little popular and started to earn a decent amount out of their blog, they tend to oversell their spaces in order to earn more money and eventually end up earning less on the long run. So just when you place ads on your blog, just make sure its not screening the core content of your blog. also don’t be greedy to earn more, think about your visitors and try to earn more by increasing your visitor numbers and not by increasing your ads spaces. When your visitor’s number increase you will eventually end up earning more from already available well placed ads spaces on your blog.

Just keep this in mind, help your visitors and make their life better in some way and money will follow as you gather more loyal visitors to your blog.

      Hi Anish,
      Yes many prefer to have ads after they have established the site a bit and gained some trust rank from search engines in order to avoid being penalized under MFA. Its a good move too :)
