Is Blogging For Money Is Bad?
I know of a lot of people (mostly personal bloggers) who do not like to monetize their blogs, some of them even claim that monetizing the blog is like ruining the whole beauty of blogs and blogging. But why blogging for money might be a bad idea after all? I could think of some possible reasons on why it might be just a bad after all to blog for money.
1. Becoming Money Obsessed:
Most people tend to become more money obsessed as their blog gets little popular, and they forget that primary focus of the blogs should be on readers and visitors of the blog over money. I would always place my primary focus on my audience over money.
2. Contents With No Depth:
I happened to read the contents of many blogs where its bombarded with ads, popups and pop unders. I could sense that there is no depth in their contents, in other words those blogs tend to make posts just to please search engines and let search engines know that they are an active blog that is updated regularly, but when your contents really don’t have much weight in it then its not really helping anyone.
3. Ads Can Be Annoying:
Its a known fact that ads can be annoying to users, from the users point of view I don’t mind ads that are placed in positions that really don’t disturb the actual content of the site, but in most cases we tend to notice that money minded blogs tend to have too many ads and it actually becomes hard to take a look at the real content of the site.
4. Un-Happy Readers:
When you got a list of readers and subscribers build up, its responsibility from a blogger point of view to keep his readers happy and make them come back over and over again to his blog. But it happens that if a blogger become money focused he tend to forget about his readers and subscribers which will eventually make the readers un-happy.
5. Loss Of Reputation:
Other than making the readers un-happy, when you do not write good contents and make users easily access your contents it plays a serious role over your reputation. So always keep readers and contents over money. I do not say monetizing your site or blog is a bad idea but make sure as a blogger that you are more focused on your readers and money will follow.
