Installing WordPress On Your Server Using Fantastico

Most hosting providers come with an option called fantastico in their cpanel and fantastico is a free script installer that lets you to install open source scripts like wordpress in to your server in no time. Let me show you how you can install wordpress script using fantastico option in your cpanel.

Once you have logged in to you cpanel you could see an icon called fantastico De Luxe, this icon looks something like a have a nice day smiley. You can check out the picture below to get an idea.

Just click through that icon and you will be redirected to a page as displayed below where you can see several free scripts that can be readily installed on your server in no time, but for now we need to install wordpress so locate wordpress from the options available.

Now you will be redirected to a page where it gives you a short description about wordpress and gives you a option for new installation so just click through the new installation

So once you click through the new installation you will be prompted with a screen like the one you see below.

In the first drop down box choose the domain where you want to install your your blog.

In the second box choose the directory where you need your blog script to be actually installed. for example if you have a domain called mywordpressblog.com and you want to install your blog to a directory blog then enter “blog” in the second box so the script will be installed in http://wordpressblog.com/blog location or if you want your blog to be installed in the main directory then leave the second box empty. Box after these two are not difficult to fill in with some basic common sense.

So just press install wordpress and you will be redirected to a screen where it gives you the database details and you will be given a finish installation link and you are done, you have successfully installed your own wordpress blog in to your server.
