How To Create Categories In WordPress Blog
Once you are done with the installation of your wordpress blog then the next step will be to create appropriate categories. Its an essential step while planning your blog that you need to decide up on the categories your blog will have. It not only helps you to give better focus on what you want to write about in your blog but also it will help users of your blog to easily browse through different sections in your blog. Now we will see how you can create new categories in your wordpress blog.
1. Login to your admin panel and click on categories under posts option.
2. once you have clicked the categories you will be taken to categories page where you will can see a section called “Add category”
You can enter your category name in the column provided, followed by choosing the parent category, parent category is useful when you want to create a sub-level category, which can be achieved by choosing a parent category.
If you want to create a category on the root level then you need to create a category with no parent category, which can be achieved by choosing none in the parent category option.
Once you are through with this step then next you can proceed to give suitable description for your category, but adding description to a category is optional you can leave it blank if you want to and click on add category button at the bottom.
That’s how you can create a new category in wordpress. Alternatively you can also create a category from your post editor area under categories section by clicking on “Add New Category”
