To adjust he reading settings, click on reading under settings options in your admin panel and it will get you to the “Reading settings” page similar to the one show in the picture below.

Lets go through each of the options that shows up in this page and how they can be used to make your blog better.

Front Page Displays:
By default wordpress is set to display the latest post but just in case if you need your front page to be static and not changing then you should probably choose the second option where you can choose any of the pages you have created to show up in the front page and pasts page, Some people may want to have a static front page on their blog and some people may want to have their latest post to show up in the front page so choose your preference.

Blog Pages Show At Most:
This setting controls the number of blog posts to be shown up on your front page and also number posts to be shown on each page as you browse through old entries in your blog. I normally set it to two but you can choose the numbers according to your needs or which suits your blog template better.

Syndication feeds show the most recent:
This setting mainly controls the subscription of your blog, it controls the number of posts to be show up as recent posts when someone syndicates your feeds to their feed reader.

For each article in a feed, show:
This settings controls how you want your feeds to show up for your readers, do you want to give out full content to be displayed on their readers or you only want to show a part of the article you have posted on your blog. If you set it to summary there is a chance that people will tend to visit your blog to read more if they have found a particular article interesting to them.

Encoding for pages and feeds:
Its really not necessary that we need to get in to this encoding details, its recommended that you don’t alter the default value of UTF-8.
