| May 1, 2010 | Comments (3)

First of all, I want to apologize for the long break. I had some time constraint issues for the past one month due to my exams. Now I got all the time in the world. So you should see some regular updates in the coming days. One of the things which I really hate about hosting websites is bandwidth limitation I have with hosting. There were times in the past where my hosting accounts get canceled just because my sites consumed more bandwidth and space on the server which was shared of course. So that made me to research a bit on this particular issue, and I found some really good ways to save my bandwidth and space on my blogs. So I am going to share some of the ways here, which will be helpful for many. You can also take a look at web hosting reviews for more information. But lets proceed with our topic.

1. Using Image Hosting Sites

Pictures and images are things which take up a huge amount of bandwidth and space from your server. Especially if your blog is tech oriented or if its just a photo blog with lots of image files. Most of the times I end up in using image hosting sites like photobucket. This saves me a lot of bandwidth on couple of my photo blogs which I hold.

2. Use Cache And Super Cache Plugins

Using plugins like wp-cache and wp-super cache can really prove to save your bandwidth in a great way. plugins would create a temporary HTML pages of your blogs which will be served to your users. Using this plugin will not increase your blog speed it will also make your blog less server intensive.

3. Using Amazon S3

If you haven’t heard about this before. Amazon offers you a lot of space on their server for a very little price. Using amazon s3 to host your files and serving them through your blog will save you a lot of space and bandwidth. You also have a plugin in wordpress which will integrate your blog with amazons3 server. This plugin will save all your files directly to amazon servers making your work a lot easier. If you want to know more information about this one try to Google amazons3.

4. Use Youtube And Video Sites For Your Videos

Hosting your videos on your own server will consume a lot of space on your server. Using social video sites like youtube can be great solution for this problem. Good thing about these social video sites is that they give you an option to embed their video on your sites. You can embed almost any video from these sites and save a lot of space on your server.

I personally prefer to host my files on the cloud, it makes my job lot easier. Apart from saving me space and bandwidth it also makes things a lot easier when you want to move your site to a another server.

    Fantastic collection of ideas.

I agree, combining cache programs like w3 cache or wp cache along with cloud services will greatly increase your blog loading time.

You may also want to think of using some jquery scripts that only load images when users get close to them, that way the page doesn’t have to load everything at once.
