Previously we have seen the importance of image optimization in your blog that will significantly increase your blog hits if optimized properly. In this article we will see how you can go about optimizing your images properly so that you can reap its full benefits to your blog.

Normally when you upload an image your code looks something like the one seen below.
"img src="http://seoyourblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/superman-google1.PNG" alt="superman google" title="superman google" width="689" height="446" class="aligncenter frame size-full wp-image-193"

To optimize your images properly we need to focus on “alt” and “title” part of the code. Spiders cannot look in to your pictures like humans do and identify a particular picture or so far there is no technology that identifies your picture by looking at the picture and as far as I know that possibility very slim even in the far future, so how spiders categorize your images is based on the values you give in the alt and title section of the code.

So when you upload a picture just give a proper alt and title values to the keywords you want to focus for that particular picture. I really recommend don’t add too many keywords there, just add a single most appropriate keyword, normally SEO professionals recommend not to add more than three keywords there but I recommend not to add more than one it makes your images look less spammy for search engines.

If you are too lazy to fill those spaces yourself then you can make use of this wordpress plugin which will automatically fill those alt and title tag automatically based on the picture name and title of your article, but still if you have time, just don’t be lazy to fill in those tags with appropriate keyword.
